Product Breakdown

  • $360 + RMV Fees
  • Must be paid in full before scheduling. 
  • This package includes one 2-hour Driving Lesson prior to your test. Your lesson must be completed at least 5 days prior to your test date. 
  • Our Licensed Instructor will meet you at the Springfield RMV.
  • We will fulfill the Sponsorship requirement

What to Expect on Your 2-HR Driving Lesson

  • You will be covering the skills and maneuvers needed to succeed on the test.
  • Your licensed driving instructor will be able to evaluate any areas that need more work as well as provide expert feedback and guidance to help improve them. 
  • You can work on any driving skills of your choosing that you think need refining in preparation for your test. 

What to Expect on Test Day

  • Arrive 30 minutes in advance and check in with our Licensed Instructor
  • The Licensed Instructor will be able to answer any last minute questions you may have
  • Remember, the test is an evaluation of your skills as a driver. The test will evaluate:
    • Pre-trip safe set up (Adjusting seat, mirrors, seatbelt)
    • Response to traffic signs and signals (Yielding, making complete stops, following traffic lights and choosing lanes correctly)
    • Response to other motorists (Defensive Driving)
    • Parking maneuvers (Including pull-in, back-in and parallel)
    • 3-Point Turn/k-turn
    • Basic driving proficiency (Accelerating, breaking and turning)
    • Other driving maneuvers at the discretion of the inspector (Driving on hills, highway driving, city driving or any other skill the inspector wants to test)

Canceling and Rescheduling

  • If you need to cancel your test, please do so at least 5 business days in advance or you will be subject to our late cancelation fee of $100
  • If you need to reschedule please call us at (413) 642-1475
  • If you fail your license test, you won't be able to test again for 2 weeks from your fail date.  Please call us to reschedule

Please Note:

  • Learning to drive requires extensive practice outside of your lesson(s) with us. RMV requires 40+ hours of practice for teen drivers and we strongly recommend the same for learners of all ages. You can schedule more lessons through the student portal or by calling 413.642.1475
  • You must complete all requirements before testing for your license.

Test at The Next Street

  • $99 + RMV Fees
  • Must be paid in full and have completed all state requirements before being scheduling
  • The RMV will come to one of our locations and test you
  • You must have completed at least one 2-hour lesson with us prior, at least 5 days before your scheduled test date.
  • You will use our vehicle to test in
  • We will fulfill the RMV Sponsorship requirement
  • The test will be 10-15 minutes however we are at the whim of the RMV and their agent
  • Once the product is purchased, call us to book. You will be added to a list based on your eligibility date which is based on your permit and age.
  • You must complete all requirements before we can schedule your license test.

You Take Yourself To the RMV

  • If you feel ready to take on the licensing process yourself, we are here to support you if you have any questions, and of course wish you the best of luck!
  • If you are taking the test at the RMV, you cannot go to the RMV branch to schedule it; you must schedule your test online. Click here for the link.
  • When you schedule, you must pay the $35 State Testing Fee and the $50 license fee; the RMV accepts Visa or Mastercard. Both fees can be paid before or after your license test.
  • If you choose to go to the RMV on your own, you should download the MA Driver's Manual to prep for your test.

What to Expect on Test Day

  • Arrive 15 minutes early, and check in with the RMV staff
  • Remember, the test is an evaluation of your skills as a driver. The test will evaluate:
    • Pre-trip safe set up (Adjusting seat, mirrors, seatbelt)

Canceling and Rescheduling

  • If you need to cancel your test you must do so through the RMV portal at least 72 hours in advance or you will be subject to their late cancelation fee of $35
  • If you pass you will handle all documentation at the RMV including taking your picture.
  • If you fail your license test, you must schedule a new test appointment at least two weeks after the failed test date. 

Vehicle Requirements

  • Vehicles used for a Class D or M road test must meet the following requirements and will be inspected before your test. This includes vehicles with an ignition interlock device, and vehicles with adaptive equipment for a competency test. Vehicles must:
  • Be in good working condition and be able to pass a safety check.
  • Have a valid registration and current inspection sticker.
  • Contain adequate seating accommodations next to the operator for the use of the examiner and have a rear seat behind the driver for the sponsor.
  • Must have a vehicle with a center console handbrake, no foot e-brakes allowed

Wait Times and Eligibility
  • If you are under 18 years old, you must meet all Junior Operator Requirements. In addition to successfully completing your Driver's Education program and obtaining 40 additional hours of supervised driving, you must have a valid learner's permit for at least 6 consecutive months before taking the road test and maintain a clean driving record for 6 consecutive months before you can receive your license.
  • If you are over 18 years old, you must hold a valid Driver's Permit before taking your Driver's License Test
  • In order to purchase one of our testing products, you must have taken at least one 2-hour Behind The Wheel lesson with The Next Street, completed at least 5 days before your scheduled test date.
